There is no record of the exact moment of the creation of an archive of the Court of Waters.
Despite being an institution whose main characteristic is its orality, the production of written documentation and its conservation has been necessary for the development of the institution's activity, as well as for the defense of its rights
So, from the 19th century, the documentation issued by the Court, as well as those documents received by the institution, began to be preserved.
The Tribunal de les Aigües, Intangible Heritage of Humanity since September 30, 2009, is the oldest existing judicial institution in Europe.
