The Municipal Historical Archive of Bigastro is a cultural and administrative institution at the service of citizens, made up of the documentary funds of the City Council, the Court of Peace, as well as various social organizations and the Chamber of Agriculture in the exercise of their functions, kept in recently built facilities.
The new installations of the Historical Archive of Bigastro aspire to deal effectively with the increase in documentary production, to guarantee the new services of access to digital documentation and, especially, to the ethical demands of the current administration (transparency, right of access), together with the will to be fully integrated in the implementation of new technologies in relations with the citizen.
In general, its main functions are to gather, conserve, make accessible, research and disseminate the Bigastren documentary heritage with the purpose of using it for research, culture, information and administrative management.
Documentary background:
The documentation kept in the Municipal Historical Archive of Bigastro is available to the citizen, who can access it, always with the legally established limitations and those others that could derive from the state of conservation of the documents. In addition to on-site consultations, other ways of accessing information are also enabled (telephone, online, regular mail).
Those interested have here both the instruments for describing the funds and documentary collections, as well as the staff necessary to attend to their requests and provide the advice they ask for. This space is equipped with a computer (OPAC) through which digitized documents can be accessed.
Highlights:
The inventoried documentation spans from the 19th century to the present day, and the oldest document is a verbal judgment file from the year 1800.
