On June 19, 1896, D. Leocadio Chornet Martínez was appointed to the position of Secretary of the City Council, acting as such until 1925 when he retired.
He was the first to structure the Archive, make the files correctly with their indexes and sew them properly if necessary. The Civil War meant for the Archive the loss of a large part of its documentation.
Finally, at the beginning of the 1980s, with a new organization of the City Council, an attempt was made to restructure the archive in an organic and clear way by creating a technical secretary and the post of Archivist, an attempt was made to restructure the archive in an organic and clear way. This new structure became a reality in 1984 and is still in use today.
Documentary background:
The fund of the archive contains comprehensive information on the government, administration, inhabitants and economy of the municipality. Its documentary fund guarantees the citizen the transparency of municipal management, the preservation and availability of public documents that support their legitimate private rights and interests; in addition, it represents one of the main sources for knowledge of the history of the locality, in terms of the years corresponding to the documentation that is preserved.
The series corresponding to Works and Urbanism should be highlighted, for their abundance, continuity, frequency of consultation and for being a faithful reflection of the evolution of the municipality.

The oldest document that is part of the archive's collection dates from 1823.

Free access, prior written request to the City Council's General Entry Register, following the provisions of Law 30/92 and for historical documents the provisions of Law 16/85.
Historical documents may be reproduced where physical conditions permit. The Tax Ordinance has established fees for copies of documents.
As an instrument at the service of users there is a guide.
Currently, with the implementation of electronic administration, Gestiona is used as a platform for archiving documents.
