A fire in September 1911 caused the almost total destruction of the archive, preserving very little documentation from the initial municipal period. It was also affected by the "Swamp" of 1982. Most documentary series begin in 1911, and later documentation from the republican era and the civil war is preserved.
After having several locations, a historic building is being renovated
as the permanent seat of the Archive.
