The Municipal Archive of La Vila Joiosa guards and preserves part of the documents produced and received by the town council of La Vila over the last seven centuries as well as the fund of the notarial district of La Vila Joiosa.
They are the direct testimony of the history of the municipality, the primary source for its knowledge, made available to researchers and citizens for their consultation.
The chronology of the documentation starts in 1443 until 2020.
Documentary funds
The main documentary collections preserved in the archive are the municipal itself, which begins in 1443 and extends to the present day, and that of the Vila Joiosa notarial district, which partially contains notarial documentation of the population of the 16th and 17th centuries and complete from 1709, including that of the neighboring towns of Finestrat, Relleu, Orxeta and Sella.
