The appearance of documentation related to the Royal Sèquia de Carcaixent begins at the same time that King Felipe IV approves the request to take water from the Xúquer river for irrigation. Proof of this is the most important document preserved in the institution, the Royal Privilege of November 17, 1654, for the construction of the new ditch.

There is little documentation from this period, due to the fact that the institution's archives used to be in municipal offices and suffered some disasters, one of them the revolutionary revolts of September 19, 1911 on the occasion of the Campaign against the War in Africa, where the exalted caused a great fire that affected the Juntes de la Sèquia where almost all the documentation was burned and they threw a large amount of documents of the Royal Sèquia into the public street , Consumer Administration and City Council.

As a result of the tension and conflict between the Mayor and the farmers who were part of the Administrative and Government Board, it was agreed in 1925 to build a new building in the courtyard of the old hermitage of the Blood or Children's School house , ceded for sale to the Community of Irrigation by the City Council for the resulting difference in favor of the City Council from works carried out by the Real Sequia in the building it occupied until then. It was inaugurated in 1929.

That's when the file goes to the new offices. In the new building, the archive was located on the ground floor until, in 1982, it suffered the devastating floods that affected the town. That was why it was decided to move it to the first floor of the building.

First I was in an interior room with little ventilation. The documentation was presented on shelves, part of which was arranged in bundles, the rest loose. The state of conservation was regular, there was documentation affected by the Pantanada of 1982, by fungi, moisture stains, fire and rust produced by metal objects.

Tasks were carried out to clean harmful elements and place the documentation in boxes and folders. A classification table adapted to the Institution was also created, a catalogue-inventory, manual files and the placement of plans in cylindrical cartridges.

Currently the archive has been moved to another annex, with natural lighting and ventilation, bigger and where metal shelves have been placed and the boxes are correctly ordered numerically.

Since 2020 it has been integrated into the Network Archive System (SAVEX) of the Generalitat Valenciana and visible in the Opac.
