The farm of the colons

The "collons" estate, the "garroferos" estate, the "salvem la vista o del titanic" estate, the "del piano" estate, the "del bolso" estate, the "cañas y barros" estate, the "la moncloa i la Zarzuela" estates, "los alpes" estate, "el vaticano" estate, "dels Bartolos" estate, "dels Xaparros" estate, "de los intouchables" estate, "quiero y no puedo", the "la plaça de bous" estate, the "blue" estate, the "divorced" estate, the "aquí no hay quien viva" estate, the "mosquitoes" neighborhood, the "victos" neighborhood, the "del romeral" neighborhood.

In the town of Albaida, their neighbors are prone, so you neglect, what they call you. In this case, they name the estates. Nicknames refer to housing estates and/or neighborhoods such as: garroferos, chaparros, bartolos because that family lived there; mosquitos, vitxitos, romeral, moncloa, Zarzuela for their obvious characteristics; piano, bag for the curious effects or finishes of the estate; untouchables, cañas y barro, for the price and for being built in the pool of the town's source, respectively and because when they built them on TV they put those series; Alps, very high estate and its bottom was the bar “Suïssa”; vaticano because many rectors lived; quiero y no puedo because it wants to be on the main artery of the town (Avinguda La Fira), but it is next door; that of the series "aquí no hay quien viva" because no one is alive (it is empty); that of the divorced, is obvious; and left for the end, the double-christened estate, titanic or save the view, the name of the ship/film because of its size and silhouette and the second because there was a small neighborhood movement not to build in that area and cover the panoramic views of the typical photograph of the town of Albaida.

Mr. Mayor (José Luis Boixader) had stayed with Josefa and her husband before the notary of Valencia Ignacio Docavo. They were going to sign the deed of sale of the house that Josefa (Ferri) had at Carrer Verge del Remei, nº 42 (formerly 40). The notary's expenses were paid by the city council (800 pts.) and the travel expenses of Mr. Mayor were 200 pts.

The house is a ground floor with a room, a court (quadra) and an open space. The discovery of almost 100 square meters is a piece intended for bleaching wax and is closed by a wall facing the Camí de Capuchins. This closed shaft has a door through which you can enter the house.

It is June 22, 1964.

A month earlier, on May 23, the first 80,000 pesetas of the PMVFA were deposited into a current account of the "Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad".

But what is the PMVFA?

A year earlier, on March 15, 1963, in the town, a Municipal Board of Houses (housing) for Albaida Officials had been created. The second article of the statutes of the PMVFA says the following: "...it has as its purpose the construction of housing for municipal employees...who have to reside in the municipal area...its action will also reach the construction of the necessary complementary buildings...". The chairman of the board of trustees is the mayor.

Counted and debated, in 1965, Albaida City Council ceded free of charge to the PMVFA some land (252 square meters) it owns in Plaça de la Fira and overlooks the Camí de Capuchins.

Six frantic years of income and special payments, drafts and projects, works, granting of deeds of sale, etc. The first project consists of 24 homes and commercial premises (1967-1968) awarded on November 17, 1969 by the president of the PMVFA (Cándido Martínez); the second, there are 17 homes and commercial premises (1968-1970) awarded on June 2, 1970. The architects were Julio Trullenque and Pablo Navarro. The contractor was Alfredo Langa Escorcia.

Eight years after the sale of Josefa's house, the City Council sold two commercial premises to the "Círculo Musical Primitiva Albaidense" valued at almost two million pesetas. They are local nº 1 and 3.

It's April 26, 1972, people are walking through the Plaza de la Fira, they raise their heads and look at the sky "colló..." and farm named after the town:
